If you want ATO main fuse vs the Honda Fusible link type system, start here.

A review would not be complete without the reason for using this product over OEM. Back in the early 80's Honda used a fusible link type main fuse, essentially a strip of conductive material which would fuse under overload. This strip connects by two screws on the starter relay assembly which is also basically a distribution point for the main power (30 amp) circuit. Although these fuses are still apparently plentiful, if one wishes an ATO style fuse orientation, this aftermarket is currently the only way to do that. It works fine, I had a similar -- probably identical -- one of these on the bike for 5 years and it failed, but it failed in the "on" position; where, the starter motor remained engaged even after the button was released. It happens. An OEM solenoid/relay could do that ...

  • Not a replacement for OEM part

Product is NOT a replacement for the OEM part [1982 Honda CX500]. Posts are opposite, OEM plug does not fit and it's 20amp not 30amp like original. I was unable to use.

It seems to have worked. I was wary it wouldn’t because the solenoid is 20Amp and the one on my bike was 30Amp. Bike still started up like it used to
