About this product

Product Information

#1 New York Times bestselling author and popular radio and television host Glenn Beck revisits Thomas Paine's Common Sense . In any era, great Americans inspire us to reach our full potential. They know with conviction what they believe within themselves. They understand that all actions have consequences. And they find commonsense solutions to the nation's problems. One such American, Thomas Paine, was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future--and, ultimately, her freedom. Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance. And now, Glenn Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-party monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country.

"All women who have thought ?run!' -- but did not run -- will experience this book like a familiar dream. It's full of echoes and resonant fractures, and so beguiling in its eerie simplicity. I read it twice."—Miranda July, author ofNo One Belongs Here More Than You

  • Glenn Beck's Common Sense by Glenn Beck, Joe Kerry

I purchased this book to give out as gifts. I love the common sense approach in outlining Government issues and solutions to the mess our country is in due to the political environment created by our politicians that "Govenment can solve all of your problems and nobody has to take personal responsibility for ANYTHING - "Your Fair Share" seems to have become a mantra rather than a 2 year olds view of the world. What has happened? I was brought up knowing that "life isn't fair" and "hard work brings rewards" via the school of "hard knocks". This coming from a women who was widowed at 29 via a very long 6 year battle with my husbands brain cancer raising my children on my own - by, yes, a JOB because we had no life insurance and refusing the widows portion of Social Security because I ...

  • This Book Should be Called "Common Sense by Itself"

I am very sympathetic with some conservative ideas, especially those involving taxation abuse and excess of government control. In that matter, this book get across these topics very well by citing recent examples of actions which seems tyrannical and not really of common agreement (or sense, if you prefer to call that way). However, what I still struggle to understand is how the original Thomas Paine's publication is linked to these ideas. Seems to me that the author is trying to justify this thoughts on principles of the early American history when, in fact, he didn't need to. A ideology of any nature can be well preached, explained and accepted without resorting to means in an attempt to prove those points right. Upon reading the last pages of the book, where the original Common Sense ...

  • Glenn and some "Common Sense"

I've followed Glenn's career for several years and I am so glad that he wrote this book. I saw where he said (on t.v.) that he doubted that he was really going to go through with writing this book because of all the criticism he knew it would cause him to take. In this new book, "Common Sense" he blasts both Republican's and Democrat's equally and with vigor using a modern interpretation of Thomas Paines' early historical writings "Common Sense". Glenn gives page after page and example after example of how our Founding Father's (mostly in their own words from documented writings) meant America to be one thing, traveling down one direction, only to be hijacked repeatedly by 20th century (and now 21st century) politicians who seem to be taking us away from our founding documents and ...

  • Commin Sense for an uncommon time

Buy, Buy, Buy and share the ensuing wealth. This book should be required reading for every college professor, student and administrator. I will be buying enough copies to distribute to every student and staff member at my daughters high school and middle school. They all received printed copies of the US Constitution last year. It is about time that someone with a media presence takes a proactive stance, and tells the whole story. It is unfortunTE THt this wake up call may have been printed too late to save our once great republic from a Government and Administration that is so set on destroying what our ancestors fought so hard to establish and maintain. I have heard Mr. Beck on the radio several times, and found him to bemore of an entertainer than most, but this is as hard hitting ...

  • Common Sense by Glenn Beck and Joe Kerry

It was portrayed as if it was the original "Common Sense" by Paine, and the price on e-bay was 1/2 the listing price and less than at the big box stores where it was offered at a discount. Glenn Beck logically touches on the issues that threaten our Republic today, and then completely shows Thomas Paine's original "Common Sense". It is easy reading and very logical. You cannot disagree with the Author's concerns for the US with the looneys currently setting policy.
