About this product

Product Information

Based on the characters in Harold Robbins' THE CARPETBAGGERS, this is the story Nevada Smith (Steve McQueen), a half-breed Native American whose parents are viciously murdered by a gang of toughs led by Tom Fitch (Karl Malden). Nevada sets out to kill the gang after being taught to use weapons by Jonas Cord, Sr. (Brian Keith). Nevada kills the first of the gang in a knife fight and commits a crime to get into the prison where the second outlaw is being held and kills him, but that's just the beginning of his difficult journey of vengeance. Veteran director Hathaway (TRUE GRIT) creates a strong vehicle for the rugged McQueen.

    Good but problematic...

    Although Max Sand aka Nevada Smith is supposed to be a "kid" in this movie, it was made after "The Magnificent Seven" and "The Great Escape". If you can get past the fact Steve McQueen was 36, it is a fairly decent revenge movie, a role that suits Steve McQueen as perfectly as any of his best parts.

    Movie - Navada Smith

    The last time I saw this movie was in 1966 in Pittsburgh. I was about 18 and was easy to relate to Steve McQueens role and character. Had always been one of my favorite movies, but never had the chance to see it again till now. Watched it twice back to back. I will probably watch it soon again.
