  • A can't miss for the casual comic book fan

The Essential Captain America Volume 1 reprints Tales of Suspense #59-99, and Captain America #100-102. This is a can't miss if you're either a Captain America fan, or just a casual comic book fan. With creators like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, John Romita, Gil Kane, and Joe Sinnott (Kirby's fantastic inker) you can't go wrong with this book. Lots of great stories with his partner Bucky (in flash back stories) fighting the Red Skull and Baron Zemo. This volume also features the first appearance of SHIELD Agent 13, better know as Sharon Carter (who is pregnant with Steve's child as of Captain America Vol.5 #31). With his recent death in Captain America Vol.5 #25, this book is a great way to see why he became a household name.

  • A Worthy Investment

This is a great way to read the early Capt America books. Even without color, these stories are great. Too bad the books today don't have the storytelling like this books. After reading these stories, I have to read the follow-up books. There is no way I can afford to buy the issues seperately so this is the best cost cutting way to read them. This is old school comics at its best. A worthy investment.
