Very High Quality At A Very Good Price
The switch is quite heavy-duty. The housing and pedal are of strong enough material to withstand the rigors of any job site. By the nature of the design, accidental spills and sprays from above will not enter the housing. Also note that the electrical component (a SPDT micro switch) is raised above the floor of the housing so that, should it be accidentally set down in snow, water will not short circuit the switch. Note that the enclosed Single Pole, Double throw micro switch is rated 10 amps at 250 volts. This equals 2500 watts, therefore one could use the switch at 125 volts, 20 amps. It's a standard configuration, so if the micro switch ever fails, a replacement will be easy to find. For the intended use (carbon electrode resistance welding machine), the supplied cord was of a too ... The switch is quite heavy-duty. (I forgot to check the AWG before I recycled the cord, but Temco can tell you the gauge.) Changing it to 14/3 SJ cord wasn't a terribly time consuming task & certainly not difficult. (Plus, it gave me a chance to peek inside. They did a great job on this switch.) Step-By-Step Cord Changing: 1) Remove the hinge pin by pushing it out with a roll pin punch (or anything similar- even a nail). 2) Remove one screw from the bottom to lift the pedal off. 3) Remove one screw inside to release the cord clamp. 4) Desolder the existing cord from the micro switch. Option: Cut the wire off & file tab flat. 5) Drill the cord entry to suit the diameter of the new cord. It's aluminum, so drilling's quick. Remember to ream the hole for a smooth surface. Or, put a sleeve, such as silicone tubing. 6) Insert the new cord and solder it to the micro switch. (Optionally, 3/16" flag terminals for fast push-on connections) 7) Reconnect the cord clamp 8) Put the cover back on. Time Elapsed = ca. 10 minutes. Regarding value, at 8.58 USD, what one receives for the price is outstanding. Also note that the Temco switch & box are not marked with any country of origin, so I believe it was made in the United States. Cool, huh? To summarize: I'm perfectly pleased and will purchase more for an upcoming project.
