Great price on good strings.
These are the best buy out there, and they are nice color coded eyelet, bronze coated metal strings for an acoustical. They hold their tune very, very well, precision manufacturing and tolerance held 100%, I know, I miced each one pre and post tensions, with an electronic micrometer, 0.0001 mm tolerance, very expensive and accurate. I bought several at this price, all ship at single shipping cost. You can spend more, but these are from a major manufacturer and will serve you well.These are the best buy out there, and they are nice color coded eyelet, bronze coated metal strings for an acoustical. D'Addario strings are cheap, plentiful, and reliable.
I have used various D'Addario strings since the early 80s. I was 'aware' of them in the 70s but I typically used Fender strings on electrics and Martin on acoustics. I have always maintained that D'Addario strings are cheap, plentiful, and get the job done. The argument could be made that there are better strings out there ("boutique" strings) but D'Addarios are available in any music store and they are consistently good. I think I only had one or two sets where the unwound strings were nasty.... they looked 'kinked' and didn't sound right. One or two sets out of how many hundreds of sets?? As to these particular strings, I have a 1947 Gibson L-5 and it just feels more 'right' with caveman strings. I'm not one of those 30s rhythm players that go runka chunka all day long, I play it like ... I have used various D'Addario strings since the early 80s. Great tone / tension for drop tunings
Great tone, projection and volume! Still sound good after a month. The main function of these strings is maintain string tension when tuned down. Lighter strings tuned down get too loose, lose clarity and create fret buzz. All these problems are solved with the EJ 18s. WARNING: These must be tuned down on a standard scale flattop guitar. I tune down a full step, D-G-C-F-A-D. Standard E tuning MIGHT work on an arch top, but will damage a flattop, as the full set string pull is quite high.Great tone, projection and volume!
