In short, this game feels inferior to sequels purely because you get less songs and the game is built in a way that forces you to play songs (possibly ones you don't like) over and over again to progress. It might not seem like a big deal, but when you are forced to replay the same songs over and over again you really feel this game having 10 less songs. "Story" mode and character interactions (both new to the series) seem like great ideas on paper, but the story boils down to simplistic grinding mechanism with somewhat bland, text (not voiced) dialogue between the characters. By the way, I think character dialogues don't have any personality in them (you could swap the dialogs among the characters and I doubt anyone would tell the difference). Don't get me wrong, they improved on certain things too, but improvements are minor considering the amount of content got reduced and amount of time you need to play to complete increased, which means you have to replay the same stuff A LOT more than in previous games. To summarize, I still like the game and the some of the improvements, but story and dialogs feel uninspired.Read full review
