    Nice, very light gauge strings

Bought these after reading that this is the preferred string of James Taylor for his Olson Guitar. bought 3 sets to try out on my Martin 000-28 VS and a Lowden 0-35 custom Koa/cedar. Very bright string, but know that the gauges are lighter than the standard light, making them easy to play, but string tension does seem to be lower, and the low E and A can buzz, especially if you lower the E to a dropped D or play in DADGAD or other open tunings. Haven't worn them in yet, but I like them so far for the brightness and clarity, along with the playability.

  • Underrated excellence!

Until a few years ago, I was a faithful D’addario devotee. I still like their strings, but have discovered a real gem in these John Pearce Phosphor Bronze Slightly Light strings! Great string-to-string balance, even tone, and one of the smoothest feeling round wound strings I’ve ever played. Wonderful for finger-style playing (I’ve read these are a favorite of James Taylor), but perform equally well in general rhythm playing situations. These are available in a variety of gauges, and every guitarist, at any level of play, owes it to themselves to give these a try at least once. I truly believe they would be pleasantly surprised!

  • The Difference is Remarkable

I am an average guitar player (at best) and have played acoustic guitar for decades. After buying my first Martin (a very sweet 1976 D-28) from Gruhn's several years ago, I experimented with several different brands of strings for it. When I stumbled onto the John Pearse strings in a music store, I gave them a try and was amazed at the difference in them over everything else. The brightness is balanced with strong lows and mids, which make them great for both finger-picking and flat-picking. They are the only strings I put on my Martin, my Taylor 12 string and my lower-end D'Angelino 6 string. Highly recommended -- and, no, I do not receive any compensation for this endorsement. I just know what I like and want others to enjoy these strings. They are hard to find in music stores, so ...

  • Slightly Light

Great tone and consistency from John Pearse strings as always. James Taylor plays this set, but I find them a bit light to my liking. I think I'll stick to the Light set. to me, that's the best all-around gauge...

  • Perfect for the hard to find sound!

Works great. These strings work great if you have a guitar that is slightly bright and you want to deepen the tone a bit.
