  • Good for GMRS

I bought these radios to use for GMRS. The price is really good for radios that operate with about 1.5W output as compared to the bubble pack FRS/GMRS radios sold for over 4 times the price. However a bit of warning. You need to program the channels, they are not pre-programmed. The best tool for this is Chirp which a free program that can be downloaded. I tried finding the program provided by Bao-Feng online to program the radios and it is hard to find. The version I downloaded was stopped by my computers anti-malware software for being unsafe. Use Chirp, it is safer and easy to use. Important, you need a USB adapter to interface with your computer. This is not included in the package. I also like the fact that it comes with LI Ion batteries instead of NiMH.

  • Would but again. Recommended.

Not too bad. Definitely not a 20 mile range. However, I was able to speak chat a few miles out in an area full of hills and trees. I'm actually pretty impressed by that. For the cost, it's a good deal. The battery life seems pretty good so far. Range is reasonable. I like that they have the NOAA setting on them. The seem pretty durable as well. Overall, a good purchase. Very lightweight for a bug out bag or just to carry. Signal remains very clear until out of range... No choppiness like some other brands. Recommended. I actually bought 4 just in case. These may come il be pretty useful down the road for anyone. Shipping was pretty quick and easy.

  • Seem to work well at a short, but obstructed, distance

charged batteries. i took one radio down to my shop, which has 6" of insulation. you can only see the roof of the shop from my house, as it sits below a steep drop-off from my yard. my wife was in the house with a second radio. the house has 18" of insulation and a 6" dead-air space. we could converse easily. i have not yet tried the radios at a distance, but this was not line-of-sight and they worked well. i will try to come back and adjust the rating up or down once we try the radios at a distance. for now, all is good.

  • Great Radios!

I have owned several sets of Motorola talk about radios over the years. These are some of the best ones that I have owned. I bought a set originally and ended up buying several more I would highly recommend these radios. It's great that they run on a rechargeable battery pack or AA's . They are easy to use and have great clear speakers.

  • Worked well

Purchased 12 Motorola Model SX700 radios in 2015. Half of them still work so purchased this model hoping it was compatible and it is! Used the old and the new radios for 12 hours in and out of a steel building with no problems.

  • Excellent for GMRS, FRS radio

For what we use these radios for, they are excellent. Voice transmission is very clear, which is what we were after. In my opinion the T400 series radios are a huge step up from the Motorola MR350R radio. We use these radios for security on Sunday morning in a quiet environment, and use the ear buds with the remote mic. The T460 radio has a vibration mode that some of our team uses and likes quite well. The radios are very sturdy, well built and have about a ten hour batter life before needing to be recharged. The T460 also has a weather receiver built in which allows us to monitor the weather when it seems threatening.

  • Not Bad...

These are good radios... A bit too beefy, with nice build quality though... however the belt clip does not look to be firm... seems like won't hold it once...

  • Not 20 miles.

Works great if you are within maybe 2-5 miles. Anything more then it’s no good. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it if you plan to use it with the “20” mile descriptions
