Talicas are excellent compact lightweight reels
Although I haven't had the opportunity to use my new Talica 16-II, I have fished the Talica 12-II, which is slightly narrower. Talicas are smooth casting reels with good stopping power (drag 40 lbs.) and torque. Well made, solid, two speed, lever drag control. Holds a lot of line, especially if you use hollow core spectra. If you need 1000 yards get the Shimano Tiagra 50W. Both are great! Drag is consistently smooth, strong, and dependable. If your looking for a lever drag reel that has power, speed, torque, and a good free-spool the talica 2 speed is the way to go.
