You will be able to do precision work on them without worrying about them slipping out of position. The weighted base provides stability and ensures the circuit board holder stays put during use. There are notches to hold small parts in place while you work on them.
After many years of using a homemade circuit board holder I bit the bullet and spent the cash for the Panavise.
The base is quite heavy and holds the boards without wobble. It is pretty easy to flip the board for population and then flip back to solder.
I did go to the local home repo store and get a longer piece of 1/2" square tubing to hold longer/wider boards.
