Re-released in 2002, the movie features enhanced visual effects with never before seen footage, and a new re-mastered soundtrack. This two-disc set features not only the 20th Anniversary Limited Collector's Edition but also the original 1982 theatrical edition. "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" is a merger of all the ingredients that the audience loves, including passion, friendship, love, and fear of the unknown. The powerful execution of the story is topped off with intelligent direction of the Steven Spielberg, and it struck a chord with audiences everywhere. The first disc of this two-disc set features the 20th anniversary edition in a widescreen DVD format with an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and 120 minutes run time. This disc also features an introductory segment by Steven Spielberg, full-length audio of John Williams performing the score live at the 2002 premiere, and planetary facts with commentary. The second disc has the original theatrical edition of "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" in an anamorphic widescreen DVD format with 115 minutes run time and an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The second disc of this science-fiction/fantasy also includes additional features, such as the making of 20th Anniversary featurette, publicity photographs, marketing galleries, and the 2002 re-release theatrical trailer.

    "NEW" E.T?

    I feel so dumb becasue I had no idea that Speilburg had fixed up this movie, so of course I had to immediatly snag a copy and see this. Other than a few easy to spot CG E.T moments that look awful, this version is amazing! Definately worth it for any fan.

    Disappointed in set

    I love this movie and disc 1 is brilliant, buy disc 2 has a major flaw at 1:09 I was able to skip forward, but with about a two minute gap, lt ruins the disc. Sure glad disc 1 plays perfectly. Not a good value for one disc.

    Great Movie. Good for Kids & Adults all in the same room. Family Classic for generations upon generations. My 3 year old boy and 6 year old girl love it. We share stories of "when I was a kid" after watching it. If you don't own this movie, buy it. If you've never seen it or have children who haven't, buy it now.
