Must-see for women in the military
In order to inherit a fortune, a spoiled socialite (Lana Turner) must prove she is responsible. She joins the Army, intending to quit after she gets the money. But she does well, is accepted to Officer's Training, and wants to stay...until her biggest rival tries to get her kicked out. This is an interesting look at WAC training in the 1940s, including boot camp where women practice hand-to-hand combat --- while wearing dresses! The film is not a comedy (like PRIVATE BENJAMIN) or brutally realistic (like G.I. JANE), but somewhere in between.
