I BARELY got a chance to start using this (haven't even saved any images, but began to set it up & see a little of what it can do) when I had to leave home for a couple weeks! What I CAN say is that the imager is TINY compared to my previ aous (NexImage 5) version (loved THAT one for years until I upgraded my PC & the two didn't play well together).
Anyway, despite its being a "10 Mp" sensor as opposed to my earlier 5, the sensor APPEARS to be the same size (roughly 1/2.3") but it's housed in a sturdy, compact metal body that seems just a shade over HALF the diameter of the older model & seems lighter as well.
Mars was so bright I had to drop the exposure AND the gain & barely got a glimpse before time ran out for me to meet my midnight train.
Everything SEEMED to be functioning well right off the bat EXCEPT the user interface for the capture software, which had all text, buttons & boxes sized almost MICROSCOPICALLY, so I fiddled a LOT just to find the controls & menus needed to make any adjustments.
This issue, though, has been a recurring problem since I got my laptop; there's no screen res setting that works well & consistently for ALL programs. So I'm not blami the matter on the imager OR its software; it's my COMLUTER that doesn't play well with others!
Incidentally, when FORCED to answer three Y/N questions to start review, I HAD to say "no" when asked if "the lenses [were] high quality"; the camera HAS no lenses of its own, beyond the scope you hook it up to!!
A great combination of Quality and Price for professional astrophotography. Easy to set up and take amazing videos/photos of the night sky. It has tons of lots of flexibility to do practically anything and get great, sharp images ready for your processing software that's included. One night with your Neximage 10 and you'll never be without it!
Didn't work. As soon as it was plugged in, it connected and disconnected within seconds. Might be a good camera, but I can't judge from the "open box" one I received.
Big difficulties regarding the software.
Apparently doesn't work with Windows10 which is the actual standard.
And no way to make it work on a Mac with OS X...
