Impact of Sam Cooke On Soul Music
When soul music lost Sam Cooke and Otis Redding it would be impossible to measure the impact this would have on all genres of music for years to come. There has always been much speculation around Sam's untimely passing. The mafia controlled the music business in those days and if an artist did not play by their rules sometimes the results would be fatal. Such is the case with Sam Cooke. Sam was the first black artist to start his own record label called SAR. He also was the first black artist to have full ownership of his masters. I always wonder what impact Sam and Otis would have had on music in the decades of the 70s and 80s had they lived. A man who had great talent!
This box set is truly an invitation to the great talent and gift Sam Cooke had when he was alive. It's truly ashamed that he left this world in such a tragic way. Only God above knows what he would have done if he had lived. He did so many things in what few short years he was with us. This box set is a great introduction to his talents. It may not be everything that he did but it's enough to give you an idea as to the genius of Sam Cooke. I'm very satisfied with my purchase of this great box set and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the music of Sam Cooke! Don't even hesitate or have doubts about buying it!
