As an avid gamer for over ten years, Intelligent Qube takes me back to the explosion of videogames seen in the early 90's. Widely popularized due to it being on one of the Playstation's demo discs, Intelligent Qube (IQ) surprised many with its addictive gameplay yet simple controls and premise. The basic idea of the game is that you are a person atop a long grid of squares. a group of cube blocks begin toppling their way towards you from the opposite long end of the grid-plane. You move around and can mark the grid tile you are stepping on. Once marked, the goal is to de-activate the mark when a cube is right on top of it, capturing the cube. Obviously, there are different types of cubes; normal, forbidden, and advantage cubes. Normal are the light-colored cubes that you want to capture. Forbidden cubes are black and should not be captured. Advantage cubes are green and give you a bonus stationary 3x3 grid to blow up at any time in addition to your one marked spot. A simple enough premise that adds up to fun gameplay. A 2-player mode lets a friend join in. Original mode (unlocked after completion of game) allows you to create you own levels (now a popular feature in new games). This game holds up as one of the classics in Puzzle Games. Everyone may not know or remember it, but it is well-regarded in deeper circles and commands a high-price on the web due to limited availability and rarity.Read full review

Been looking for this one in shops and on line cause of its rarity. $40 wasnt bad for a Solid game. Any more would be too expensive. It's a fun puzzler that my sister has been wanting to challenge me on, so I am just glad it works on my ps3.

Complex, fun puzzle games are kind of hard to find. I mean sure you can find mini puzzle games in things like the Resident Evil series or the Castlevania games, but true puzzle games that are complex yet fun are scarce. Intelligent Qube is one of a very rare ilk(No pun intended). It starts off very simple(as all puzzle games should), but from there becomes very complex. The premise is that you have all these blocks coming at you. You mark a tile with X then hit the X button again to absorb the cube on top of that tile. What makes it fun though is the green blocks. You mark and absorb those and there's a green mark on the tile left, and if you hit the triangle button all 9 tiles in a square surrounding the marked tile absorb the cubes in range, and this chain reaction can potentially go on, depending on how many more green blocks are in range. (Just be careful never to absorb the black blocks.) It's a kind of game play that takes some getting used to, and it's a very strange premise, but Intelligent Qube is surprisingly addictive! Not just that, but the musical score is just... epic. The atmosphere is surreal, very dark(literally). The only downside to Intelligent Qube is its rarity. Because of this factor, this game costs an arm and a leg. If you are a puzzle fanatic though or a playstation game collector, you must have Intelligent Qube. Another problem is that due to problems I don't entirely understand, the original developer of this game had a quarrel with Sony and won't let them re-release it on any other platform! So if you're expecting it to come out on the Playstation network or PS3... sorry! (This may or may not be a rumor, those out there in the know let me know if it's really true.)Read full review
This game is just awesome. The creators of this game knew exactly what they were doing and they did a perfect job of doing it. What I like about the game is the challenging levels that they have. It just keeps getting harder and harder the further you go in the game. What I love about the game is how addicting it is and you just want to keep going on with the levels even though you may die a few times, you just want to keep trying again. The only dislike I really have is that some of the levels the color they used to render the blocks on some levels is not always easy on the eyes but it just kinda adds to the challenge of the game. I decided to buy this game along time ago because of the demo that first came out the the Playstation 1 console. At that moment I was addicted but I could never find the game. I finally found it on ebay several times and found the perfect one recently. I have not stopped playing this game at all, and I won't until I beat it. I would suggest anyone who likes, loves, or is obsessed with puzzles game to please find this wonderful masterpiece and let take you back to old school PS1 and enjoy your younger days while you test your mind and put your reaction and response sense to use. I just wish they made more games like this. :-)Read full review
I played the demo of this game in 1997 when it first came out, and I was addicted. The controls were so simply that even newcomers felt like they had a pretty good grasp on the game. Yet the challenge was still there. It's not impossible to beat the game, yet it is not a walk in the park. And I cannot believe that there was not one review that included the great soundtrack that this game has! The soundtrack makes the game all the more perfect, because while playing is very addicting, you can't get the songs out of your head when you're not playing! The soundtrack has a wide range of songs from the creepy to the exciting and fast paced. This game, although very expensive on eBay these days, is worth every penny no matter how much the cost. There are few games like this now, and even fewer puzzle games that still provide countless hours of fun 10 years after its birth. This is a true gem and among the top 10 in the greatest games ever made for Playstation!Read full review

This game is a rare find on eBay. I own my original copy that I bought in 1998. Since owning this game I have sold 5 of this game. My average eBay end price has been $80 each. So - expect to pay around that for this game. I assure you it is worth it. This game had a bit of licensing controversy between the creator and Sony - with it ending up that the creator barred Sony from ever releasing or rereleasing the game again. If you like Tetris (like I do) - you will love this game (like I do) Offering unique gameplay - your task is to mark a spot on a platform as "qubes" cascade towards you. When a cube lands on the marked spot, you detonate the area removing the "qube" from the playing field. You must remove all the "qubes" before they push yo to the edge. The best thing I like about this game is the music - it's "over the top" angelic choir music and gameplay narrated up by a god-like Patrick Stewart (Capt Picard on Star Trek TNG) voice. Once you understand the concept and learn to mark "qubes" in advance - you will be able to easily advance. You are given an IQ score based on how many "qubes" you clear. And by the way - it is supposedly a measure of IQ so the actual name IS SPELLED "Intelligent Qube"Read full review
Integlligent Qube is one of the best games ever made! I know that it may not look, or even, sound like much, but when you start playing it... You can't stop! There is ABSOLUTELY nothing that I do not like about this game. I'm so glad that I've found it again. I had it once before (about 10 years ago), and then someone stole it. I searched video game stores high and low, near and far, and then I was talking to a friend about something and he mentioned that, "...you can find anything on eBay!" So I decided to put his theory to the test. Much to my surpise, it's true! You can find anything (and everything) on eBay!!!
