This 2002 volume from Del Rey is part of a trilogy (followed by "The Bloody Crown of Conan", and "The Conquering Sword of Conan.")The series contains every Conan story ever written, and in the order they were written, by the late, great Robert E. Howard. Best of all, they have not been "edited", re-written or other wise tampered with as previous books featuring the character have been. Fully illustrated, this volume also has such features as first drafts of the stories, an essay written by Howard on the imaginary "Hyborian Age" setting for the stories, and a map of the countries where his adventures take place. A must have for fans of the character who want to enjoy the original stories as they were meant to be enjoyed.

Conan the Cimmerian, simply put this man is one of the greatest characters in the history of fiction. The adventures depicted within the pages of this nicely-sized book just may be some of the greatest ever. From the hallowed grounds and wastelands and temples of ancient myth, in cities to marvel any built by man he lives and fights and steals. Conan takes his world by the balls, a hero if there ever was one. Masterfully written by Robert E. Howard, genius deluxe. Buy this, yet ye regret it in the coming ages and the twilight of thine years.

Pros: Absolute genius writing. The stories keep you hooked constantly throughout every single one. My personal favorites are the extremely detailed fighting scenes. Once I hit one, there is no getting that book out of my hands. Cons: Uhm, the 25 pages of useless **** at the beginning I guess. This is a MUST BUY if you're playing Age of Conan or if you are a fan of Howard.
Robert E. Howard is a great story teller. I read his works for the first time almost 50 years ago. They are just as good as I remember. The only improvement would be to also include the map from the 1950 edition, it was a little more detailed than Howards hand drawn map.
