I had my last Hamilton Beach Fryer for 13 years, still works, but wanted something that held same amount of oil and food, yet didn't take up as much counter space as my old Hamilton Beach workhorse! Love the design, my old one was so long with the basket handle, it took up almost 30" of counter space in length! This looks great and I couldn't wait to try it out as soon as it came. Of course it did perform as well as my old one does. The break away cord is wonderful, and the attached lid is so helpful when you have hands full of battered food you don't have to lift off and find a place to put the lid! I love that the handle to the basket is removable when not in use, the only thing I wish Hamilton Beach would have thought about would have been a place on the back that held the handle when not in use, but not a biggie. Great price for this unit too, I have several Hamilton Beach products and they last forever and it's quality you can trust! Everything worked fine, it was the fact you can only fry 4 pieces of chicken at a time. I wish it would let me put at least 4 inches of oil, not just the 2 inches you suggest. It's great for a few French Fries or Mushrooms. I just thought it was a bigger fryer!

Okay, I "borrowed" McDonald's famous slogan for my title. lol But really, I am in fact loving this deep fryer! It's the perfect size and weight. Not too large. Not too small. It heats up quickly and fries evenly. And perhaps best of all, it's designed where one can lift the basket out of the hot oil before opening the lid, reducing the likelihood of being burned by splattering hot grease. And of course I love the fact that it features "cool touch" technology. All in all, it's just a great little machine. In fact, I am using it again tonight.

I have purchased several fryers trying to get the right combination, so far this one fits the bill. One should not eat fried foods too often so if you are to indulge it's good to have the food the way you want it to come out. The two most important factors are getting hot enough and retaining or recovering that temperature level when food is cooked. This unit gets up to speed pretty quickly and recovers and holds temperature better than the others I have tried. The result is quicker, less greasy cooking.
