He is a Fellow of the British Academy, and was the winner of the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding 2012.

    The (very long and slow) End

    A comprehensive inquiry into the reasons Germany fought to destruction.It's a bit too dense for my liking. It would make a good reference book for anyone researching the subject.

    The End - an interesting read.

    The book “The End” is very detailed and very interesting but there is a fair amount of repetition. The book could be a lot shorter than it is.
