Rock solid film camera.
This is as good as a 35mm film camera you can get. It works with all the Canon EF lenses. It has M, A, and T modes, built in light meter, and auto focus. It is rock solid. I like it because I have many Canon EF and compatible lenses from shooting Canon digital for many years. This camera allows me to shoot film and have some fun trying different film stocks. I am very happy with this camera.This is as good as a 35mm film camera you can get. It works with all the Canon EF lenses. It has M, A, and T modes, built in light meter, and auto focus. It is rock solid. I like it because I have many Canon EF and compatible lenses from shooting Canon digital for many years. I've been a photographer in the music industry since 1985. This is the BEST film camera Canon ever created and probably THE best 35mm FILM camera ever created! Wow, this is a MUST for any serious 35 mm film photographer. Film teaches a photographer discipline. You have to compose a shot wisely and expose it correctly. With digital, newer photographers tend to shoot many mediocre, repetitive images, assuming if they throw enough s__t on the wall, somethings got to stick. With film you learn to master light and choose your shot more carefully. If I hear another photographer say, "I'll Photoshop that out later" I'll beat them in the head with this camera. It takes far longer to photoshop a sloppy background than it does to recompose your image or clear the ... I've been a photographer in the music industry since 1985. Do yourself a favor and get this camera. Your work will improve. I guarantee it. The EOS-1V is the top-of-the-line film body in the Canon EOS system. This is probably the world's best film camera for sports photography because it combines an intelligent 45-point autofocus system with a 10 frames-per-second exposure rate. In the Canon EOS-1 tradition, this latest version is very tightly sealed against rain and dust. Viewfinder The EOS-1V has Canon's best viewfinder for eyeglass wearers. Image coverage is 100 percent, which makes the EOS-1V ideal for producing film images to be scanned and presented digitally. The viewfinder includes two LCD displays, one underneath and one to the right of the image. The bar-graph scale for exposure compensation or metered manual covers 6 f-stops in 1/3-stop increments. Underneath this scale is an exposure counter. With my eyeglasses on, I can see the entire image and both displays at once. For photography without eyeglasses, the EOS-1V body includes built-in diopter correction. Handling This is a standard Canon EOS body with two main control wheels and any EOS user will be able to pick up the EOS-1V and start using it immediately. In manual mode, one wheel controls aperture and the other shutter speed. In aperture priority auto, one wheel controls aperture and the other exposure compensation. The camera includes a dedicated depth-of-field preview button at the bottom of the lens mount. Autofocus Autofocus is fast and sure, even in low light. If you let the camera pick the AF sensor(s) to use, generally it will make reasonable decisions. Selecting a particular sensor requires pushing in a button on the back and moving one of the control wheels. An interesting new feature on the EOS-1V is a "jump to my favorite focusing sensor" button on the back of the camera. This enables you, for example, to leave the camera in "camera picks the AF sensor" mode all of the time but if you're getting frustrated by the body's decisions, push a button and force the AF system to use the central sensor. One wart: the EOS-1V lacks an AF-assist light. If you want to autofocus in near-darkness you'll need to have an accessory flash mounted. Better than my digital EOS cameras!
Excellent, smooth shooting, reliable camera. The one I purchased has at least 500 rolls on it, and it works like clockwork. It's a big advantage to be able to use all of Canon's modern full-frame lenses on this camera. I shoot with a lot of vintage cameras that all have their quirks... I used to carry my Canon 5D MK II as a backup to my film photography- just in case. Now I carry this instead, and my backup is on film!!! If you're a Canon EOS digital photographer, this would be the very best camera you could get to make the switch to film photography. You'll instantly have a strong comfort level. I particularly like the fact that this camera imprints a customizable number at the start of a roll. It also has quite a few customizable features. Just an over-all solid and ... And, this camera can accept low ASA film ( often shoot with 25 or 50 ASA film... something a digital camera doesn't simulate ). I personally don't need the power grip for high-speed shooting... the camera is fast without it!

As of this writing, Oct. 17,2008, this camera is still for sale new with the power booster, it comes to about $2,0000.00, I paid $472.00 in great condition! If you are old school like me and still use cameras like the old Canon F1 and a Leica M7, or older Hasselblad it will take you awhile to master this camera. Don't buy one without the instruction manual if you've never used one before, you will never be able to figure out all the functions without it ! Also, never buy a camera from a professional photographer because it has seen too much use. I have digital cameras but still prefer FILM, what will you do with your digital photos in 30-50 years when technology leaves your files as ... This is a very well made camera, and a great buy since everyone wants a digital camera. If you want a modern SLR that can use all the same lenses and speedlites as your canon DSLR then this is one of the best options out there and in my opinion it is the best option. I love the ergonomics
