This is a good value yes, but fine and precise optic instrument too, one of my favorite lenses by far, before this I used to only buy Nikon lenses for my Nokon D7200 and Nikon D3, but after this a brand means nothing to me, why be loyal to a brand if the important thing is quality? That really matters is quality, there are a lot of reviews to become familiar with any lens performance. Less Expensive Just as Sharp!
The Tokina 2.8 Macro lens takes very sharp pictures. It has a good DOF even in Macro mode. It is half the price of the Nikon 105 2.8. The major difference is the Nikon has VR (vibration reduction) Since use the Tokina on a tripod for macro work this is not an issue for me. I will enjoy the savings and buy another lens with it.

Great lens for the money !
I am using a Nikon D750 in full manual. Pros: sharp, nice color saturation, not very expensive, versatile focal length, f2.8, great bokeh, & relatively light, feels well built, smooth manual focus ring, dual roles. every bit as good as my six Nikon lenses. Cons: does not have stabilization but have not missed it.

Great lens for macro and portrait photos
This lens is great for macro shooting. We've been taking photos of flowers, bees, bees on flowers, flowers on bees. You name it. It has decent focus. It is very sharp. It also is great for portraits, and the 100mm length means that you are either standing very far away to get full body shots (which has its pros and cons) or you're at a reasonable distance taking head, or head and shoulders shots. Bokeh is very nice with this lens. Good deal. I recommend it. Even though we have a Nikon 85mm f/1.8 it's tempting to use this lens because of its decent job at double duty as macro and portrait.This lens is great for macro shooting.
