Collecting Costume Jewelry 202 is an awesome presentation on the basics of collecting and dating pieces from the 1930s through the 1980s. Billed as the sequel to Collecting Costume Jewelry 101, the newly released volume's coverage is impressive. Included are more than 650 color photographs, 550 patent illustrations, and a jolting 4,000 patent design numbers. Additionally the substantial reference provides vintage advertisements or other illustrations from 125 makers.

    • COLLECTING COSTUME JEWELRY 202 by JULIA C. CARROLL '06

A most informative full size paperback book for the costume jewelry collector. I consider it a MUST have. This colorfully illustrated guide contains four hundred ninety five (495) full pages. Features six (6) methods for dating costume jewelry. Maker's mark, patent info, reviewing vintage ads, style or design, books, internet and provenance. Each method is explained in detail. Full color illustrations with relevant detail. Tables with the design patent number, date issued, designer, jewelry type and brief description also are abundant. Features Coro, Vendome, Trifari, Crown Trifari as well as other jewelry makers. There are also twelve and one half pages of manufacturer and marks charts, designers chart and an appendix on viewing patents online. After purchasing a high end designer ...

    • Welcome Addition to Books on Collecting and Identifying Costume Jewelry

This book relies more on drawings and ads than actual pieces of jewelry compared to Collecting Costume Jewelry 101. There is however much more on when certain metals and designs occurred so that you can identify the period of jewelry, particularly unmarked items. It is nice to know when a particular trademark or mark was used but not that important to me but it maybe to others. I find that it has increased my knowledge of my collection and will serve as a reference guide. Many more manufacturers are listed in 202 than 101 and that was interesting as well.

    • DON'T WAIST TIME ON 1ST EDITION - 2nd 202 is better

Too much content on Trifari and Coro. Good info on patents and designer names. However, you can get this in other titles by other authors.

    • My favorite book of all time!! A MUST for collectors!

My copy is only about 6 months old, and it looks like I have had it for YEARS! Anytime I have questions about a Jewelry Maker's dates of operation, this is the FIRST book I turn to. There are charts in the back detailing marks and the approximate date mark is first used. The photos are WONDERFUL, and this book covers jewelry from 1935 to 1980. I can not recommend this book enough, it is an invaluable reference, and a MUST have for jewelry collectors!
