About this product

Product Information

Mass Effect 2 is a role-playing game with an outer space, science fiction setting and action-oriented, third-person shooter play. The game is released as the second in a planned trilogy from BioWare, designed for Xbox 360 and Windows-based home computers. Players resume the role of Commander Shepard, the customizable protagonist of the first game, choosing the hero's gender, appearance, skills, and abilities to match personal preferences and playing styles. Combat is squad-based, as in the original game, and players may choose their teammates from a roster of stealthy assassins, superhumanly strong warriors, and brilliant masters of mystical powers. The game's main quest is seen as a suicide mission, so assembling a team that is not only able but also willing to follow Shepard into the dangerous unknown of deep space remains a role-playing challenge throughout the adventure.

Mass Effect 2's continuing story involves the appearance of a race of insect-like humanoids, which seems to have been abducting entire colonies of humans from the fringes of known space. To investigate this new threat, Shepard works in league with the ruthless Cerberus organization, a powerful and secretive group whose only morality is the survival of the human species, at any cost. Although anyone is free to create a new character and make a fresh start in the game, players who completed the original Mass Effect may use save files to continue their adventures in the sequel, using the same customized version of the hero they led through the first game. Similarly, the outcome of the final mission of Mass Effect 2 may influence players' options as they begin the final game in the trilogy, whether Shepard remains to lead another mission against all odds, or is remembered as a brave warrior who made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of all humanity.

Along with the full game and documentation, the Mass Effect 2: Collector's Edition ships in a metallic case and includes a hardcover book of game art, a copy of the first issue of the Mass Effect Redemption comic from Dark Horse, and a DVD documentary of the development of the game, as well as exclusive access to an in-game weapon and armor that can give Shepard slightly different stats and abilities.

Awesome seller. Item arrived promptly, but there was a mixup with the item description. Seller responded immediately when notified of the problem, and offered choice of two excellent remedies to the issue. Excellent customer service, and would gladly do business with this seller again!

  • Amazing

Being a huge fan of Mass Effect 1, I was semi-reluctant about what Mass Effect 2 might change. I read the Metacritic score and found it to be in the top 10 games for PC, surpassing its predecessor. I received ME2: Collectors Edition and found not only the game but also free downloadable items. However the true test would not be the contents of the box but the gameplay. ME2 took everything that was bad about ME1 and made it awesome. I am more of a shooter than and RPG fan and this may annoy people, but I didn't get bogged down working with a vast inventory, upgrading my guns to better guns every few minutes, instead they had a cool system that allowed upgrading and leveling but in such of a way that it didn't get in the way of core gameplay. It felt like an RPG Gears of War, the cover ...

  • Better than the Halo series

I first got into the Mass Effect trilogy when my brother Daniel bought me the first one as my birthday present. I got sucked into this game almost instantly. And when Mass Effect 2 came out I just had to have it. The thing about Mass Effect games is that anything in the game or any add-on available for the game has a significant impact on the story in more ways than you can imagine. While in the most part having everything in the game be important can be intense and for the most part really exciting, there is a downside to it. If you don't have Mass Effect 1, then the game decides by default that you chose poorly in your decisions in Mass Effect 1. There is an add-on called Mass Effect: Genesis which allows you to replace playing the first game with a 15 minute comic that allows you to go ...

  • Another Triple-A Bioware Title

Debatably the best game of 2010. It improves on everything that Mass Effect 1 had problems with, which was little (inventory being the biggest) and increases the scale, setting everything up for Mass Effect 3. The story still has closure at the end of the game, so it won't leave you feeling cheated knowing the looming Reaper threat is looming and getting closer. It has great replayability, and if you're like me you'll want to roll through both Renegade & Paragon play-style one right after the other. Add a huge galaxy to explore and quests with a rich lore, and you have a fully immersive game that will leave you deeply satisfied. That is, until you beat it and wish you had Mass Effect 3 to find out what happens to Commander Shepard.

  • It's a great game, either for playthrough or collecting.

This is truly a wonderful game, the best from Bioware in my opinion. The collector's editions were made in a very limited number, and not many are left sealed. If you're looking to play the game, the extra art work, commentary and other bonus features afforded by the collector's edition are great, but also, this is a wonderful piece to keep sealed in your collection.

  • Happy

My son loves the game because you are able to have different skills each time so you can play it many times before it gets old.He also likes the comic book that came with the collectors edition and now wants me to get him the books.I would recommend this game .
