Reviews
"Editors John Travaline and Louise Mitchell provide an essential resource written by and for Catholic health care practitioners. The physicians, allied health specialists, and for academics who contribute to this substantial volume offer both timeless wisdom and pragmatic advice, born of years of direct experience managing clinical encounters in both an authentically Catholic and a medically effective manner...A notable strength of Catholic Witness in Health Care is that even chapters which initially seem to be written for specialists prove beneficial to many health care professionals...Catholic Witness in Health Care is an essential resource for current or aspiring Catholic health care practitioners. The reader will benefit not only from the abundance of useful information, but will also gain a sense of spiritual community, which will in turn serve as inspiration to fully and selflessly serve others with truth and love informed by the fires of faith."--Punzo, Vince, National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly
Synopsis
Catholic health care is about ethics but also "ethos" ? not only what we shouldn't do but a vision for what we should do with love. The issues it faces don't just concern academic bioethicists ? they concern every faithful Catholic doctor, nurse, practitioner, and even patient. Modern medical practitioners on the ground, day-in, day-out, wrestling with medical moral matters, witnessing what is happening in American medicine today, while also striving to witness to their Catholic faith in living out their medical vocation ? these are the primary authors of this unique book, and these are the readers it hopes to serve. Catholic Witness in Health Care integrates the theoretical presentation of Catholic medical ethics with real life practice. It begins with fundamental elements of Catholic care, touching upon Scripture, moral philosophy, theology, Christian anthropology, and pastoral care. The second part features Catholic clinicians illuminating authentic Catholic medical care in their various medical disciplines: gynecology and reproductive medicine, fertility, pediatrics, geriatrics, critical care, surgery, rehabilitation, psychology, and pharmacy. Part three offers unique perspectives concerning medical education, research, and practice, with an eye toward creating a cultural shift to an authentically Catholic medical ethos. Readers of this book will learn essential elements upon which the ethics of Catholic medical practice is founded and gain insights into practicing medicine and caring for others in an authentically Catholic way., Catholic health care is about ethics but also "ethos" - not only what we shouldn't do but a vision for what we should do with love. The listing was for a hardcover version of this book; however, I received a paperback. The Seller replied quickly to my question about this issue and issued a full refund - and let me keep the book. So, a diligent Seller for sure - and well packaged and reasonable timing on shipping. Thank you for the refund, and as you suggested, I'll likely donate this volume and seek the hardcover.

Great transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe

Item came shipped very well packaged and shipped very quickly. Also product was as described seeming in good condition. However I had a slight issues with the item(could have been damaged by carrier not sure) but seller made good with a full refund immediately after I contacted them about the issue. I would do business again based on the excellent customer service and would highly recommend seller.
