I originally bought this to create an artsy box for a project at school. I am studying to be a graphic designer at the University of Oklahoma. The professor and fellow students really liked it, because it turned out very well. So, I created a few to hold Christmas gifts. They really liked them. This is a great book for beginners and experts alike, but as the boxes get bigger and use more squares of paper as one progresses to the end of the book, they respectively get more complex and complicated. It's good for anyone that has previously folded some origami, like myself. It will help you want to begin again because of how aesthetically beautiful these pieces become with even just a little effort. Also, if you want to create a bigger box (great size for cds!), just make it from 12x12" scrapbook paper. I love this book!Read full review
If you're interested in making your own handmade boxes for gift giving or self storage, this is a book for you. With some determination, or just plain origami experience, you can easily make these up. Always good to practice with cheap paper before going onto the more expensive. I've made several of these boxes and given them away in the past. I am always surprised when I see these same boxes I've given away on display and holding various items at friends' houses. To keep them more permanent or sturdy, I used quality paper such as those found in perfectly square scrapbooking compilations and glued the various paper pieces together for longevity. Both paper and glues used are acid free and are archival.
This book clearly explains modular paper folding. There are many projects from easy ones to very hard ones. It needs patience, and rewards you with hours of fun and satisfaction.
i loved the book because it was fun and had things for most levels it wasn't to hard but did provide a challage. All projects were beautiful and worked wonderfully as gifts, decorations, or simple storage. I even usd the book in my art group.
