OEM Cooler
This is a direct replacement for the CPU cooler in the Dell XPS 8300 and Vostro 460. It may also work in other Core i5 based Dell products. I have one that has been running 24/7 for over 2 weeks now and it is nearly silent. The build, which is similar to Cooler Master, is high quality for an item that most people give little thought to. A check of temperatures shows all four cores to be well within the acceptable range. As this is a used part, no thermal paste was included. The end user must provide his own thermal paste prior to installation. I recommend Arctic Silver or some other ceramic based thermal paste.This is a direct replacement for the CPU cooler in the Dell XPS 8300 and Vostro 460. It's ok.
Decent sized heatsink, good that it comes with 4pin mobo connection, however doesn't have a copper contact for the cpu and it's REALLY tight to the motherboard. It took a good amount of effort just to screw the thing in, expect it to flex your motherboard just the tiniest of bits. I didn't want to ruin the CPU so i got a different cooler instead, but if you're ok with a little work, then it'd be fine for you. I ordered another supposed replacement for this unit on another site. It was not like the original and did not fit the motherboard. This part is exactly like the one found in my XPS 8500 and installation was a snap.
