    Blast from the past

    It's always nice when songs take you back to a simpler time, like Watergate & Vietnam & the Kent State shooting (just teasing but i lived thru those times). Nice collection of songs.

    WAy Back When

    Dating myself here, years ago at age 17, my parents managed a motel in Yakima, Washington, and we had various singing groups come to rent a room. This one guy had rented a room. One day he came into the office and had his guitar with him, and my mom asked him to play something. He started strumming and broke into Sylvia's Mother. Years later I would find out that Dr Hook had sat there and sang the song to us and neither of us knew who he was. My mom and I fell in love with the song, and so many more. This CD (that I just bought)I had on an "album" and now when I saw it on CD, I bought it and can remember that day of long ago. My mom is gone but it still brings back smiling memories! Thanks for the memories!

    great relaxing and meaningful music.

    I have seen Dr. Hook in Concert. Unfortunately the 3 or 4 original band members are dead now. They were a fun and playful group when on stage. But, when the lead singer, Dennis Locorriere, did the song, "Silvia's Mother", the rest of the band left the stage, and he, with a stool, an acoustical guitar, a spotlight, sang the whole song solo. By the time he was done, he was completely bathed in sweat, wow! What a wonderful and powerful performance. This must have been in 1981? In Wilmar, Minnesota. I have had this on Album, Cassette, and CD. Many wonderful songs.

    Buying deeply wierd items.

    Since I am a deeply wierd person from the 50's and 60's I buy interesting things. This might be played as I am driving my 1959 Plymouth or my Ramcharger or a John Deere tractor. Would need a player in my very fast 68 Dodge Dart but probably wouldn't hear it anyway going 140 MPH with the top down. I think Dr. Hook would be proud to have a fan like me!!

    Memories of the 70's.

    This disc brings back the memories when my mom was alive. Dr. Hook was her favorite music to listen too.
