This item (HDD) was described as New. When it arrived, the drive was not inside an anti-static bag (just bubble-wrapped) and when mounted had a power-on count of 224 and on-time of 98 hours. This makes me suspicious that it is not new. I did a little research about on-time and most people seem to think that anything over ~10 hours negates the "new' status. S.M.A.R.T. data does not show any read or retry errors and no sector re-allocations. For now, I will continue to test in a working system.
