SynopsisIn December, 1999, a multinational team journeys out to the stars, to the most awesome encounter in human history. Who -- or what -- is out there? In Cosmos , Carl Sagan explained the universe. In Contact , he predicts its future -- and our own.
One of the best books I have read in a long time. The book follows the contact with an extraterrestrial species. However, not only the contact but in fine detail Sagan goes into the international Social, Political and Religious problems the proposed contact with extraterrestrial life would pose to individual nations. From eschatological doctrines to UFO fanatics, the book tackles many subjects in a means to understand and close the gap between science (Physics in particular) and other bodies of knowledge such as government and military entities.
