Yggdra Union is a Strategy RPG, similar to that of the Fire Emblem series. The good thing about Yggdra Union is that allied units don't permenantly die after being defeated in battle (with the exception of the main characters, Yggdra and Milanor). There's nothing I can really complain about this game. The graphics are amazing for a GBA, but like all masterpieces, it has its flaws. The artwork pales in comparison to its prequel, Riviera: The Promised Land. Here's a trick for everyone. In the recently released game, Dept. Heaven Episode IV, Knights in the Nightmare for Nintendo DS, insert Yggdra Union into the GBA slot! You'll have a couple of suprises waiting for you!
The game has a unique art style and presentation that I enjoy. It's part of what I enjoyed about the previous game in this series, Riviera: The Promised Land. What this game lacks, though, is what I enjoyed most about Riviera and that is the character development. The characters are barely explored and the dialogue feels hollow and wooden. It's still a fairly fun game, though. It just could have been much better.
