Gets the job done on twin shocks at a reasonable price.

Worked good for removing/replacing the shock springs on my Honda Rancher IRS. Simple, easy to use tool. I plan to use it on motorcycle twin rear shock springs also. It is NOT made to do large single shock springs!

    Be Careful

Did not work for my application (2021 Tenere 700) The cradle (the black component) can only accommodate bushings up to 7/8"-25MM wide. Anything wider will not fit in. Also be aware that the hooks are rather shallow and may not grip some heavier springs very well. I'd estimate 8MM at most. If your shock has a gas reservoir it may interfere with proper placement, or even make it impossible to use this tool. I didn't take any of these things into consideration, and since I didn't discover these things until more than 2 months after purchase, I can't return it. Like any spring compressor, make sure to lubricate the threaded rods with grease before attempting to use it!

  • Works good

It originally looked clumsy to use with all the parts but it really worked good, sturdy, easy to use. I used it on a 80 in/lb spring (vintage motorcycle) and it worked slick. A good alternative where the coils are wound tight and you need a wrench to remove the shock shaft from the eyelet (for shocks with no removable spring retainer).

  • Easy to use, Well Constructed, Great Tool.

I used this on a vintage Hodaka shock absorber spring with tightly wound coils. I found the tool easy to use, well constructed, and safe. I did trim the "hooks" just a bit to fit between the tighter coils, but it worked well, and is a good value in my opinion,

  • Not a great tool but it works BARELY

This spring compressor has a few issues especially of your spring is thicker than the hooks. It pops off pretty easily when you start applying pressure. I had to wrap a cargo strap around it to get the hooks to stay in place. I was constantly worried that it would pop loose. I put just enough tension to clear the retaining clip but no more. The hooks WILL scratch the finish on the spring.
