About this product

Product Information

A drastic improvement on Lauren Weisberger‘s bestselling novel, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA showcases Meryl Streep's knack for combining humor and sadness. While likely inspired by notorious VOGUE editor Anna Wintour, Streep's Miranda Priestly (head of Runway magazine) is entirely her own creation. Sporting silvery hair, a vast collection of fur coats, an encyclopedic knowledge of all things fashionable, and a killer smile, Miranda is full of wicked charm. With her mature beauty and commanding presence, Miranda is as fascinating to watch as she is intimidating to the constant rotation of assistants thrown her way. When bookish Northwestern grad Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) interviews to become Miranda's newest lackey, Miranda hires her not for her lackluster wardrobe but for her intellect. Inside the pristine Runway offices, Andy suffers through a never-ending list of impossible tasks, and is the subject of constant harassment by Miranda's jealous first assistant (Emily Blunt). But to the dismay of her boyfriend (Adrian Grenier) and close friends, Andy slowly finds herself seduced by the glamorous world of fashion, and by Miranda herself. While Andy's transformation comes largely in the form of new designer clothing, the makeover is mental as well. What starts out as a firm belief in fashion's vapidity and in Miranda's heartlessness gradually fades into the suspicion that the boss from hell might just be hiding a soul. While the book villainized its title character, the film gives new depths to her wrath. As Andy trades her undergrad wardrobe for one packed with Prada and Chanel (with help from Stanley Tucci in a brilliant role), viewers are able to savor the work of costume designer Patricia Field. Together with director David Frankel (who also worked on SEX AND THE CITY), Field creates a world of fashion so wonderfully extreme it would be hard for anyone to resist.

Helpful seller with good communications. The circuit cards were not "New" as listed, and the seller should not have assumed that. As buyer, I didn't assume. Also, "Weyerhaeuser" made the box, not the contents. I accept these were honest mistakes. Reminds everyone that being an informed buyer is important. I got a good deal. And shipping was fast.

The decks of airline playing cards I bought were reasonably priced, they were delivered in good time and when they arrived the decks were in mixed condition" some were new and sealed, while others had been opened and were used. The listing specified all the decks as being in 'Used' condition so there being some new decks in the package was a welcome bonus.

    Simon Baker!

Fashion magazine madness as Meryl Streep demands perfection...no matter what it takes to get it. Anne Hathaway is a writer who has to learn about the fashion industry to fit in. Simon Baker and Adrian Grenier compete for her affection.

  • Do Your Job

When Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) lets her hair down with Andrea Sachs (played by Ann Hathaway) in Paris, after she has let Andrea know that Miranda's husband, Steven, does not need to be picked up at the airport since he has decided to sue for divorce, Andrea fully identifying with Miranda's situation (one can see it so well in Ann Hathaway's face, and one should not underestimate Ann Hathaway's performance), asks Miranda, "Is there anything else I can do?" Miranda quickly settles back into her normal "hauteur" and replies, "Your job." That is exactly what one can say that everyone involved with this film has done. The writer of the screenplay, McKenna (if I remember correctly) has gone farther than the original book by Lauren Weisberger and has given the devil her due. The cutting ...

  • A Great Chick-Flick that Guys Can Enjoy

The characters are great, the acting is superb, the story is hilarious, sad, and exciting. I though there was a slim chance that this movie could be decent but it was incredible. Everybody in this film does a great job, but the scene stealer for me was Stanley Tucci, HILARIOUS. Not only does the film itself deliver, but the special features are great as well. The gag reel is simply amazing. Final Verdict: 5/5 Rent or Buy?: I won't buy it, but my girlfriend will, and so will all her friends, and if there's a female in your life you should too! IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE. Thank you.

  • I'm glad I was convinced to see this movie...

Initially, I did not want to see The Devil Wears Prada. I'm not really into "chick-flicks" but this movie was absolutely hillarious! I rarely ever watch an entire "chick-flick" but this movie had me glued to my seat to see what horrible thing Meryl Streep would do next. I've not read the book, but a couple of friends have told me that it was very different, but still a good movie... Now, that I've seen the movie and it was awesome, I think I'll read the book. If you have a boss that you think is a terror, watch this movie. You'll feel much better about your own boss--hopefully:D

  • A Decent Film for Fans of the Book.

The best selling novel hits the big screen in "The Devil Wears Prada." Anne Hatheway stars as a goofy, fashionless assistant to Meryl Streep who plays a ruthless fashion godess. As the movie progresses, Hatheway has to choose between love, friendship, loyalty, sanity, and the success of her job for her ruthless boss. The acting is well done and the story closely follows the bestselling novel. There are some weaknesses to the film, but all in all it's not bad. The ending does leave something to be desired. All in all a good, fun film, but most viewers probably won't put this one on thier all time favorites list.
