Great 70's English Drama
This is a great show. It was a little before my time so I did not really watch it first time around. I was amazed to find that the slang they use is exactly what we used at school - from that perspective it was very influential. If you like retro 70s shows you will love this. I would rather watch this than 'Life on Mars'.

The Sweeney Season 1 DVD
Right from the opening bar of the theme tune, this TV series has you hooked. I remember it being a groundbreaking series when it first appeared on British TV in the 1970s, and it still does not disappoint. John Thaw plays the irreverent, unorthodox Inspector Jack Regan to perfection, while Dennis Waterman plays his loyal sidekick, George Carter with an air of realism and the chemistry between them really works. It's also nice to see actors in minor roles who went on to become stars in their own right in later years.
