    Quiet alternative

    I prefer Shimano components. I bought a new, 2016 Stumpjumper carbon frameset that comes spec'd with a PF30 bottom bracket shell. I've tried to avoid press-fit BB's due to the too-common issue of noise developing related to the BB being pressed in as opposed to threaded. This idea from Wheels Mfg was a nice work around. In addition, the bearings that accept the 24mm Shimano crank spindle sit external to the BB shell and come already pressed into the threaded Wheels inserts. Thus there's no pressing in a PF30 shell then pressing in and adapter to finally thread in a Shimano BB. This is a one step deal where the left and right sides with bearings already installed in correct external position, thread together, pressing itself into the PF30 shell.
