Great R2-D2 collectible!
Watched several reviews of different R2D2s from Sideshow and Bandai and going over the pros and cons, I went for the Hot Toys and I'm very pleased. I think the metal/aluminum dome adds to the authenticity much more than a painted plastic version. It has all the really nice details that R2 is famous for and I like the weathering that makes him look more realistic. The sound chip that includes almost all of his movie beeps and boops is well done and the light up features are nice too. My only problem with the lights is that when you touch the panel that turns on the light features it activates all three of his holo projectors first, then you tap the panel again and the remaining lights turn on. I personally would have preferred that the colored lights would of turned on first, because those are the ones R2 always has on when he is activated, then you should have the choice to activate just one, then all of the holoprojectors. I just think they are very bright and kind of dominate the light up features. Other than that I would highly recommend this version if you want your R2 posed in his usual configurations, if you want him with all the added attachments get the Sideshow version. P.S. I think some sort of stand should have been included considering the price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Hot toys compromise
I really like the look of the diecast dome and don't understand why no-one did it sooner. It makes for a very authentic addition to a hot toys star wars collection. My complaint is not new for hot toys. They apparently traded a stand for price point. Granted R2 needs no help standing but if every one else is on a stand R2 is a scale foot below everyone. Nitpicking? Perhaps but it's over $200 and lights up and sings. Why not throw in a stand for consistency?Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
