    Cheap to keep it as spare. 25yrs+ old furnace starts breaking down.

    Bought this because it's cheap, just in case I have a faulty control which I got replaced in 2013 (Trane XE70). Exact 3 year later, I ran into the same problem again: Getting cold air when heat is called. From what I observed from my furnace, it's running the initial 2-3 minutes then I heard a click with no red hot glowing from ignitor. At this point I definitely think it's the problem right there. Just for a grimme I swapped controller (quick troubleshoot) but the problem is there. Before that I replaced my filter and cleaned flame sensor. When everything cooled down, unplugged to check continuity of ignitor and it's reading OL, supposed to be reading something, not sure what exactly is. Finally, got the ignitor from local shop (costs me 3x as much) vs waiting for a week to ship and ...

    Old, but still works great.

    Trying to squeeze one more half a heating season out of my 35-year old Amana, so I can do its replacement in warmer weather this Spring. This inexpensive old used ignition controller was exactly what I needed. But would it would still work? Yes, it does, beautifully! Although the lead was cut, cutting it is the recommended procedure for using this controller with my furnace, so that was no problem at all. I guess come Spring, maybe I too will be able to sell it to someone else who needs it.

    This is a 'tangential; review. This purchase is a newer model than the one which failed. Further, it was not installed, but purchased as a spare. The previous model worked flawlessly for perhaps 15 or 20 years. Absolutely no complaints or criticisms. That's the basis of this review. The manufacturer appears to make and sell good quality products. The previous model was replaced by this model, purchased at a local store. Lack of a 5th star is only because I did not install this new spare and have the opportunity to assure functionality.
