    It gets you in the ballpark with an angle that is factory sharpened. Hand sharpened is more difficult. The definitive proof is a little Sharpie and some scratching on a sharpening stone. But it is well made and cheap.

    Pretty good for the price you can't beat it. I does exactly what the more expensive other brand does. All that it lacks is the clamping magnets but manual use ( have to hold and adjust the bladees position yourself) shouldn't be a problem for anyone who understands basic sharpening and edge angles. If you don't get what I said above, then this ain't for you.

    Great tool to inspect the result of your sharpening.

    Measures the sharpening angle and the angle of the blade. Only for very small bevels, a clear result may hardly be visible e.g. for out of the box bevel on Japanese chef's knives. Shows whether the sharpening angles are symmetric. Especially if you use a fine grinding stone to sharpen up to a polished cutting edge, you can see the sharpening angle very clearly. Not tried whether a hand sharpened micro bevel would be visible (none applied yet). Photo shows angle of the blade is about 4° per side (about 8° total) sharpening angle is about 17°-18° on each side pretty symmetric ( cutting angle about 35° ). No risk of damaging the cutting edge or scratching the blade, which could happen with a physical angle measurement.

    This item is extremely helpful for measuring the blade angle of your knives prior to sharpening. The laser part is metal and seems very solid. The angle guide is plastic and feels well made. Reading the angles is explained in the directions which are very helpful. Keep the box and packaging for storage. I tested it on a knife that I had sharpened to a specific angle and it was spot on.
