It's a great calculus text. I took calculus several years ago and this was the text we used. I wanted to study up on a couple chapters again, but didn't want to carry the huge thing around in my backpack with all my other books, so I bought this second copy so I could cut it apart and remove the pages I want to review. I didn't really want to cut up the one I had. So it was great to have a place (half.com) to get a reasonably priced copy and I didn't really care much about the condition except that I didn't want any writing or highlighting on the pages, and there wasn't so I was pleased as punch. The big fat math book is so heavy, something to dislike I suppose, but it comes in handy if you want to hold down something you are gluing or trying to flatten. Valuable things often have multiple uses.Read full review
This is as good, general purpose calculus book. It also extends a little into partial diff. equations and other higher topics. Good for pretty much any student going into higher math courses, beyond Calc 1.
I bought the book for my husband who is taking Calc I. The book is horrible!!! The examples are so easy to understand and are only at a minimum. The homework problems are much more complicated but there is no direction because of the examples.
I just needed it because I use it daily. This is a history text book for my school. no common at all.
