    A hard drive is a hard drive is a hard drive.

    After computing (and repairing computers) for more than 20 years, my experience is that, basically, a hard drive is a hard drive, is a hard drive. Having said that, the biggest difference I've found is in the speed (rpms). The faster the disks spin, the faster the access time, in general. However, I've also found that the slower it spins, the more likely it is to last longer before failing outright or showing signs of failure. Generally, dollar for dollar, the per gigabyte cost of (for example) a 40GB vs. 60GB vs. 80GB is less for the larger capacity drives. I bought this 40GB drive for the low price. The newer, SATA, interface is better than the old IDE/ATA. With SATA, you're not likely to have pins damaged during cable connection, and the cables are easier to route. Seems SATA drives ...

    A 40 gb hard drive for a great price.

    I bought this hard drive as a direct replacement for the one in my Gateway PC that crashed. Although the date of manufacture was 5 years ago, it appeared and performed as new. In hindsight, I would have bought a larger capacity drive. The value for money was outstanding.

    The new one works GREAT.....I hope this new one last a little longer then 2 1/2 years like the first one did.......I would think it should
