The cable company has been hounding us for years to upgrade the modem, We didn't have a password for the old router and thought this would be a good time to upgrade the whole system. After doing research we determined that the AC instead of the N was the correct product to buy. And the higher the number, the better the product. The extender was just a bonus as we live in a 2 bedroom apartment and didn't feel we needed it. Boy were we wrong. It was easy enough to set up. We were unable to get a signal in the other room until we added the extender. And then we couldn't both do high data at the same time, like uploading pictures and playing an online game. We replaced the new router and extender with our old unsecure router and our system has lightning speed for both of us. So this system might work well for some one who knows more about this stuff than I do. I am grateful that I didn't by an all-in-one, which is what I set out to do, but instead chose a 3 in one box as we were able to modify without having to return it.Read full review
