    Great optics, good focus

    The reviews say it is supposed to resolve 50 lines and Sony purported super fast auto focus - I'll say the optics are true but the focus is not. In terms of resolution power, the reason I wanted something so psycho sharp was because I bought one of the monochrome retrofit Sony cameras and pixel level resolution is very noticeable for most lenses. This holds its own even without a reducer - that's great! My only need is that I specifically bought the Sony because I figured Sony body and Sony lens would be the fastest, but honestly it's faster but not incredibly faster than my Canon lenses attached with a megabones adapter, and no where as fast as the original Sony/Zeiss 55mm 1.8. So, if you want just about the best portrait length 85mm out there, sure, I can't find anything with sharper ...

    Best Autofocus 85mm f/1.4 Lens on the Market

    What a gem of a lens. This is such a sharp lens yet with the softest of bokeh. I have used many diferent 85mm f/1.4 lenses and this one stands out far above the rest. It has a sturdy build quality, unlike many of today's lenses. With 11 aperture blades it gives that perfect circular bokeh compared to many which have the octagonal or even hexagonal shapes. It is quick to autofocus even on the a7 model. The a7rii is even faster and more precise having much more autofocus points. It would be interesting to see how it truly compares to the 85mm Otus since the Otus does not come in a Sony e mount so comparison isn't a true measure with a Nikon or Canon DSLR. You may not like the DXOMark system, but they are the only rating system out there who have extensive detailed ratings and measure each ...

    Great lens with some flaws.

    This lens has great optical quality but made out of plastic which is easily scratched. Also do not be alarmed but it has a very audible AF sound which I initially thought was broken. Tested a couple of copies and they all sound the same. Overall pretty happy but it is very expensive considering the build quality.

    Superb image quality.

    The 85 GM is a perfect companion to Sony's high megapixel cameras. The sharpness is wonderful at the points where needed. Out of focus is perfect. Check do mark rating on A7RIV and photozone.de for their review.

    Superb quality and sharpness with great bokeh

    How can sharp and soft shake together? This lens will show you. The area with focus on is razor sharp with details, and the area not in focus is creamy smooth and soft. This lens is crazy.
