The 5qt is almost the same weight as the 3.2qt chicken cooker
13.8 lbs which is only 2 oz's heavier than the 3.2 qt chicken cooker. The cast iron is thinner, looks good and still works great. Provides plenty of room for cooking your favorite comfort food, chicken or small turkey. Works well in the smokers, and for breads. I really like the dual purpose uses that this 5qt provides. Use the lid as a skillet all of the time. If the 5qt was any bigger, it would not fit the portable induction unit. Lodge 5qt combo dutch oven
Originally bought this combo set up to bake sourdough bread. This thing is perfect for bread and works great for chili, fried chicken, stews, soups and camping pot and pan. I also bought the 3.2 combo dutch oven , sometimes the bread would touch the top but not with the 5qt. Get one for yourself. If you know how to cook on and care for cast iron, It will last for a few peoples lifetimes.

As a bread baker of some experience I have always struggled to produce European breads with just the right crust. Then l came across some Dutch oven bread recipes and pictures and noticed that the crusts looked exactly like the bread crusts on breads I used to eat while growing up in Europe. I bought the middle of the road 5 quart oven and made my first Dutch oven bread last week and it worked just beautifully.
