I personally like Bon Scott better than Brian Johnson. In fact I can't think of a single song that Bon sang that I didn't like. There are a few that I can think of that I don't like as much by Brian (particularly some songs on Blow Up Your Video), but overall I like both singers. Not that that's Brian's fault, it's just my personal preference. Every song on '74 rocks. Even though it is short in length (the only drawback on the album, and I mean ONLY), it packs a big punch. Jailbreak is a classic, You Ain't Got A Hold On Me and Show Business rock, Soul Stripper kind of reminds me of Squealer (another AC/DC classic), and they do an excellent cover of Baby Please Don't Go. I've heard that song done before by Van Morrison, Ted Nugent, and others but I like AC/DC's version the best. If you like AC/DC, then you'll like this album. Unlike some bands, if you like one AC/DC album, you'll like them all. They stay with what they know, and they know straight ahead pure rock. They make no apologies and give it to you the only way they know how, which is with clean heavy distortion with no effects other than the crunch that we've grown to know and love. Casual fans of AC/DC should become die hard fans after listening to a few of their albums, and this one is a good one to start with. I'm a die hard AC/DC fan, but like many fans, I didn't get into them until I heard You Shook Me All Night Long, one of their many anthems. So I went out and bought Who Made Who, not knowing it was originally on Back In Black, and I loved that album. Then I bought Back In Black (which I believe is their best album,)and immediately loved it. Then came everything else, Dirty Deeds, Let There Be Rock, '74 Jailbreak, High Voltage, and so on. I love them all, they stick with their guns on all of them, and give us what we all crave. They don't experiment with anything else really. When you buy an AC/DC album, you know it's going to rock. No matter how old their tunes get, they're still relevant, even three decades after their release.Read full review
I have always been a big ac/dc fan. I had looked every where to try and buy it at a store but it is almost impossible to find. I bought it here on ebay because it was a great deal. The cd`s are in perfect condition and my 4 year old son loves to listen to and watch Angus Young play his guitar. Jeff Cox
Not one of their most populular cd's, was released way before its time..AC/DC ewas ahead of their "era" at the time in rock music when they produced and first released it...I wont soil it for real fans, ..it does not have many tracks, but the ones it does have rip hard and will have you letting them repeat over and over in your CD player..
This is the remaster set and is phenomenal AC/DC..we had to have this from the word ROCK! AC/DC at its finest..the remastered tracks are better than ever! Be sure to add this to your rock collection! This is the more classic CD from AC/DC from 1974 and features a lot of the Live performances that got them where they are today!
This is a old school Bon Scott era rock n roll. And most a gem it is.
