The movie up for review is Belly. It involves fast money, and violence. Director Hype Williams did a spectacular job with the camera work. I especially like the scenes at Bun's (DMX) House. Every room in Buns house has a different colored neon lighting scheme. The kitchen is yellow, the living room red, the bed room blue. It makes the schenes more intense. The story line is good, it's about two friends who smuggle drugs from New York to Omaha Nebraska, and all of the drama that comes with it. Pretty much everyone did a good job at acting exept for Nas and T-Boz from TLC. They seem like they haven't had much experience at acting, and don't display believable emotion in their acting schenes. Method Man plays a urban hitman, does a excellent job. Crucial Conflict has a good scene inside a bar in Nebraska, a shoot em up scene. This movie is a must see, and if you shop smart you can get the Limited Edition (2004) DVD that includes the Bonus Movie Soundtrack on CD. Not a big eastcoast rap fan, but it still is some good music. The overall point Im trying to make is, Watch This Movie, and if you ever talk to Nas, tell him to stick to rapping, because he can't act if his life depended on it!Read full review
''Belly'' is a film that begs for a pat on the head for its virtue while catering to cinematic tastes more interested in crotch shots, topless dancers, wall-sized television screens, ganja galore and, wherever possible, crime without punishment, all to the accompaniment of a high-octane soundtrack. In ''Belly,'' Mr. Williams, a graduate of music videos making his feature film debut as writer and director, uses rapid cuts, multiple images, superimpositions, slow motion and highly dramatic lighting among other devices as he assembles an assortment of rap artists in a tale set in 1999 among mostly undereducated urban black teen-agers. The focus is on the friendship of two of them, who appear older than their years.
This is a great movie. It shows how you should make better life choices because it's always consequences for your actions. Fast money isn't always good money.
