Product Information

Needing both a cable modem and a router is a concern of the past when you use the Netgear N450. This device is a 2-in-1 combination modem and router. Use it with Time Warner Cable, Comcast, and many other cable internet service providers. You may also disable the modem component or use bridge mode to let another networking device handle the heavy lifting. This unit is a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem, and the wireless implementation is IEEE 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4 GHz.This DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem, which is backward compatible to 2.0, features a coaxial port on the rear panel. Access your ISP simply by attaching the coaxial cable to that port. Ensure that the cable is screwed on tight and evenly. Once you’ve provided power via the AC adapter, communication with your ISP should be automatic. This cable modem features channel bonding for optimal speeds even during peak hours. There are also a series of lights on the front panel. These provide visual cues when there are connection problems, such as DNS issues or no link.This unit is a wired as well as a Wi-Fi router, and it features a four-port switch. Each switch port supports Gigabit Ethernet. To access it, simply connect a device via a LAN cable. Note that this device supports more than just four Ethernet connections. Additional connections have access to Gigabit speeds as well. To take advantage of this capability, simply attach a switch or hub to one of the core connections. Additional ports are daisy chained in this manner up to the device limit.The wireless radio may be disabled via the software control panel. Enabled, it supports up to 450 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz channel. It also supports more than 100 simultaneous connections as well as HD video streaming. Connect desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, and other mobile devices. The Wi-Fi implementation includes guest accounts that can be enabled and disabled with ease. There are also parental controls via software allowing you to block content or restrict usage to certain domains. This model also features a security key, which ensures transmissions to and from the device are encrypted and protected.The Netgear N450 also features two Universal Serial Bus 2.0 ports. One port is located at the front of the device, and the other is located on the back panel. These USB ports are fully operational and supported via the router firmware, allowing you to connect a wide range of USB peripherals to this unit. Attaching an external hard drive that everyone has access to is a common usage. You may also attach printers and similar devices.If you want a powerful all-in-one network solution, then the Netgear N450 is a fantastic option. The Wi-Fi router has tremendous range.     Wonderful modem/router!

    I bought this to replace the modem I leased from Comcast. It worked right out of the box. The only thing I needed to do was call Comcast and give them the model number and MAC address. Within a few minutes, they had it changed over and I took the leased modem back to Comcast. No more $10/month lease fees!! This modem has a fantastic wifi range and is the best investment I could make. No problems hooking it up or getting it up and running. Wonderful!
