  • could be more detailed but reading about the book helps

The frist few pages give great resources places you can look at detailed pictures to get great ideas. I have used many of these sources even the library. the book is devided into periods. The details show step by step how to put the patterns together. The last few pages are all patterns but there are many within the pages of the book. this book looks to authentic costumes when ever possible. The book gives great tips on making, many types of hats, use of feathers, beeding, purses, shoes, correct matterial for the perfect period costume. I am so delighted with this book it is something that can really get your creative muse so mush more then just copying a pattern. I wanted to get this book for a while but it is not often available so if you can buy it if not check your local library. I ...

  • A must have for creating your own outfits for Gene-Tyler-FM dolls.

The book contains actual pattern pieces, and sewing instructions, for each of 9 outfit and accessories They do need to be enlarged before sewing. Each outfit is an example of the fashion of the day; from Victorian, through the 60's and ending with a contemporary outfit which has a brocade corset, and options for skirt, beaded pants, knitted sweaters etc. All of the patterns are designed to fit 15"-16" fashion dolls such as Gene, Tyler, Esme and Franklin Mint vinyl body dolls. I imagine some minor alterations may need to be made depending on the year/make of your particular doll. The book is comprehensive, with sections on appropriate selections of fabric, notions and trims as well as basic sewing techniques. Knitting and crochet patterns assume you already have these skills in place. There ...

  • Period & contemporary patterns for fashion dolls

As I am an avid collector of fashion dolls but have a limited budget I can only buy cheaper usually undressed vintage dolls. so this book is a great source of inspiration when it comes to dressing my treasures. The full size patterns and easy to understand instructions along with the great colour photos are very helpfull. The only thing wrong with this book is that there are only 12 patterns. I love this book for its simplicity .

  • Worth the money

Patterns are easy to follow. Book recommends fabric to use.

  • costume book for 16 in. dolls

The book is a really nice book. I bought it because it had period pieces from all eras. The ensembles that they have in the book are really nice ensembles. They seem easy to take and alter. The directions are well written also. The book is easy to understand also.
