I bought the DVD for my Barbie-loving daughter, and overall was pleased with this latest movie from the huge franchise that is "all things Barbie." The thing I like the most about the Barbie movies is that the music is always excellent, and the music from "The Diamond Castle" is no exception. Several of the original songs are very catchy (including the song "Connected" sung by Catherine McPhee during the ending credits). A bonus is that you can download sheet music from Barbie.com, and sing/play the songs at home. I'd prefer fewer "cutesy and/or talking animals" and maybe for once a story that didn't also include "the handsome prince" in some form(always coming to the rescue), but overall I enjoy watching "Barbie and the Diamond Castle" with my daughter, especially as it covers the themes of friendship, helping others and standing up for what you believe is important.Read full review
This is a favored movie of my granddaughters. They checked it out from the library several times so I thought they should have one of their own. I received it in good time. It looked in good condition. Didn't see it myself.

"Barbie & the Diamond Castle" is a delightful story that is entertaining for young children. I bought this hard-to-find movie dvd for my granddaughters who enjoy all of the movies in the Barbie series to watch while riding in the car during our summer roadtrip vacation. They are enthralled by the graphics. The story line and catchy musical numbers are easy to comprehend and memorize, and the moral lessons are meaningful to them. "Barbie & the Diamond Castle" is just one of the movies in this series and well-worth adding to our collection. I would recommend the purchase of this dvd to others who are looking for engaging, clean, family-friendly entertainment for young children.

I recently bought this movie for my 5 year old daughter, and she instantly fell in love with it. After watching this movie I found The great thing about this movie, is that it teaches kids that material things wont lead to happiness and that true happiness comes from within. Another good moral of this story is that as long as you have friends and family who love you, you can achieve anything, and overcome, any obstacle. I would reccomend this Item to a friend.
The music is the best part of this movie. My wife really likes the 2 and three part harmonies. The story and action are good for young children. Overall I would recommend this movie to most families for a fluffly fun flick. Things to consider, the plot of the movie does use magic (both good and evil). Also, the males in the movie are looked on as inferior, and the culture of the movie seems to think this is the normal course of action.
Having a 5 year old daughter we rent a lot of Barbie movies. This one is ALWAYS checked out at Family Video. We did get it once a few months ago and my daughter still sings the songs. I finally bought it. Easily on of the top two Barbie videos. The computer animation is way better than some (the musketeers is low quality for a Barbie movie) The story and songs are great. I recommend the movie to anyone with a little girl in the house. Otherwise, don't buy it because, well, it's a movie for little girls.

Barbie movies are a hit or miss, this one you MUST pass on. The 'bad guys' are not shown on the box, nor are they mentioned. It's hard to get a good read on Barbie movies since they're never rated 'officially.' The dark side of this movie terrified my 7 & 5 year old children. They were up all night and the devilish dragon and the green dark evil smoke have really spooked them. I urge you to reconsider, this movie is not for small children!! Material is too grown up for most little girls.
