Jim Henson's movie transition
This was the era before CG special effects, so the sets were meticulously hand made. Elaborate details has gone into the set and stage design and the characters are well developed in the script. Apparently, this movie took 5 years to complete, which is a testament to the care and dedication to the story line. There had been a plan for a follow up sequel, but the funding source dried up and it was never done - too bad.
