I almost didn't buy this adapter because everyone mentioned that it was not true gigabit speeds. Well, I'm a Computer Tech and ran some tests with our work 700MB connection. First, with my work computer I got 500 Mbps down 600 Mbps up. I then tried my tablet with the gigabit adapter and got 260 Mbps down and 350 Mbps up. The reason I got less on this adapter is because it's a USB serial compared to a PCIe card in my work computer. For those who said this is not a true gigabit adapter, you have to make sure that every device you're plugged into is gigabit. That means your modem or switch has to be gigabit too and not just the adapter. You're not going to get full gigabit speeds because of the serial connection but, 250 Down and 350 Up isn't bad for the connections we have at home. I ... I got this because my friends laptop didn't have a ethernet port which I found strange. I only used it when he came by then recently I bought a Nintendo switch and it doesn't have an ethernet port either. So now I use it constantly.

A cheap, but good dongle
Solid construction and does exactly as advertised. This got a 4/5 starts because the Ethernet cable does not clip into the port, rather it's seated tightly inside the socket.
