Being a kid in the 70's was a lot of fun. I remember watching this show on Saturday mornings growing and actualy believing the man in the ape suit was a real gorilla. Even watching it today I can understand why I believed it. This show follows the 2 bumbling Ghost detectives and their pet ape as they look for Ghosts. Using a special "gun" they are able to catch their spirits and put them away. Sounds vaguely familiar. This shows stars Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch of F Troop fame, and also had many famous TV guest stars of the era: Bernie Kopell, Jim Backus, Ted Knight and Billy Barty. The set also contains some bonus features such as interviews, photo galleries and an episode guide. Pretty corny, but still fun.
These are the original Ghost Busters that I remember from childhood - Spencer, Kong and Tracy the Gorilla. The shows are pure slapstick and campy fun. However, what makes this set really special are all the wonderful special features. They include interviews, bumpers, photo galleries and scripts. This is treatment that not all Hollywood movies get these days. It's been fun sharing the work of Forest Tucker, Larry Storch and Bob Burns with my kids, who find the show just as much fun as I did.
As a kid, I loved to watch The Ghost Busters on Saturday mornings. When I saw it on DVD, I knew it was a must have! It's had me laughing since episode 1! It's a great way to relax and enjoy some simple fun.
